The FGC-9 was created by Jacob Duygu, a German-Kurdish gun designer who used the pseudonym JStark1809. The pseudonym "JStark1809" paid homage to Major General John Stark, who is best remembered for his defiant motto, "Live free or die," which he penned in 1809. The FGC-9 is a 3D-printable semiautomatic pistol caliber carbine that was first released in early 2020. Jacob Duygu was a former member of the German military and became a prominent figure in the 3D-printed firearms community, aligning himself with ideals of liberty and resistance against authoritarianism. JStark passed away due to a heart attack after a German police raid on his home in October 2021.
