Hunter S. Thompson (July 18, 1937 – February 20, 2005) was an American journalist and author, best known for founding Gonzo journalism, a style of reporting where the writer becomes a central figure in the story, blending fact, fiction, and subjective experience. His most famous works include Hell's Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (1966), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1971), and Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 (1973). Thompson’s writing was characterized by its irreverent, chaotic style, often fueled by drugs, alcohol, and a deep distrust of authority, making him a countercultural icon.
